Tech Embed Research Methodology
How Tech Embed collects, checks, dates and corrects original technology data for Nigeria and Africa.
Tech Embed Intelligence separates observed evidence from estimates, marketing claims and editorial interpretation. This methodology applies to maintained datasets such as Price Watch and to future tests, trackers and research projects.
1. Every observation needs a date
Technology prices, availability, policies and product information change. When we publish a market observation, we record when it was checked. Readers should not treat an old observation as a live quote.
2. We identify the exact variant
Storage, memory, connectivity and seller can materially change a product price. Device records identify the variant being tracked wherever the source provides it.
3. A marketplace listing is an observation, not the whole market
A price seen at one seller does not prove that every Nigerian retailer charges the same amount. Where possible, broader market comparisons are used to give context. Shipping, warranty, stock and promotions may also change the final amount paid.
4. Primary and direct sources come first
For product specifications we prefer manufacturers and official documentation. For a marketplace price observation, we preserve the source listing. For public policy or regulation, we prioritise the responsible institution or official publication.
5. We distinguish recorded facts from analysis
Checked price, date and device variant are observations. Statements about value, trends or implications are analysis and should be presented as such.
6. Historical comparisons must have evidence
We do not invent a date for an older stored price. If an earlier observation lacks a verified date, it is labelled as a previous observed price rather than presented as a dated historical series.
7. Corrections remain part of the record
If a material error is found, Tech Embed follows its Corrections Policy. Research pages should be updated when the underlying data changes or when better evidence becomes available.
8. Citation
Journalists, researchers and publishers may cite Tech Embed Intelligence. Please include the dataset or research title, the observation date where applicable, and a link to the source page so readers can inspect the methodology and limitations.
