Tech Embed Editorial Policy
This page explains how Tech Embed makes editorial decisions, chooses stories, checks facts, handles reviews, manages commercial relationships, uses AI, and corrects mistakes. We publish this policy so our readers always know exactly how we operate.
Our Editorial Independence
Tech Embed is an independent technology newsroom. No advertiser, sponsor, fintech company, telecom operator, gadget brand, startup, or government agency controls or influences what we publish. Every editorial decision is made based on one question: is this genuinely useful, accurate, and honest for Nigerian and African readers?
How We Choose Stories
We publish stories that help Nigerian and African readers understand technology better, make smarter decisions, stay safer online, or follow important tech developments with confidence.
We do not publish a story just to fill the website. We do not publish press releases as news without editorial review. We do not publish stories simply because a brand or PR team sent them to us.
A story must meet at least one of these standards before we write it:
It gives Nigerian or African readers information they need to make a better decision. It warns readers about a risk, scam, or danger they should know about. It explains a technology, policy, or product in a way that is genuinely clearer than what already exists online. It covers a development in Nigerian or African tech that readers cannot afford to miss.
How We Check Facts
Every article published on Tech Embed must be based on verified information. Our fact-checking standards are:
We only use official sources for specific claims — company websites, regulator pages, government sources, official product pages, App Store listings, credible newsrooms, and verified research reports.
We never publish invented prices, product specifications, funding amounts, founder names, dates, quotes, or regulatory claims. If a specific detail cannot be confirmed from an official source, we either leave it out or clearly state that it has not been verified.
We use these standard disclaimers when needed: “Pricing in Nigeria has not been confirmed.” “Tech Embed could not independently verify this claim.” “This detail should be confirmed from an official source before acting on it.”
How We Write Reviews
Tech Embed takes product and gadget reviews seriously because we know Nigerian readers make real buying decisions based on what we write.
If Tech Embed has physically tested a product, we say so clearly: “Testing note: Tech Embed tested this product for a number of days, focusing on battery, performance, camera, design, charging, software, and value for Nigerian buyers.”
If Tech Embed has not physically tested a product, we say so clearly: “Testing note: Tech Embed has not physically tested this product yet. This article is based on verified specifications, official information, Nigerian pricing, user feedback, and market comparison.”
We never pretend to have tested a product we have not touched. We never use language like “we tested” or “in our hands-on review” unless we genuinely did the testing ourselves.
How We Handle Affiliate Links
Some articles on Tech Embed contain affiliate links. This means Tech Embed may earn a small commission if a reader clicks a link and makes a purchase. This costs the reader nothing extra.
Affiliate links never influence our editorial opinion, product rating, or recommendation. If a product is not good value for Nigerian readers, we say so — regardless of whether we have an affiliate relationship with the seller.
Every article containing affiliate links carries this disclosure: “Disclosure: Tech Embed may earn a commission if you buy through some links in this article. This does not affect our opinion, rating, or recommendation.”
How We Handle Sponsored Content
Tech Embed occasionally publishes sponsored articles and partner content. Sponsored content is always clearly labelled at the top of the article so readers know immediately that a brand paid for placement.
Sponsored content still goes through full editorial review. We do not publish sponsored articles that contain misleading claims, fake product praise, unverified statistics, or content that could harm our readers.
Every sponsored article carries this disclosure: “Disclosure: This article is sponsored by the brand name. Tech Embed reviewed and edited the content to meet our editorial standards.”
How We Use AI
Tech Embed uses artificial intelligence tools to help with topic research, article drafts, headline suggestions, SEO metadata, social media copy, and content planning.
However, AI is never the final voice at Tech Embed. Every article written with AI assistance is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human editor before publishing. The human editor resolves every unverified claim, checks every source, and approves every article before it goes live.
We do not use AI to invent facts, fake product testing, fabricate quotes, or generate content that bypasses human editorial review. AI is a writing tool at Tech Embed, not an editorial decision maker.
How We Handle Conflicts of Interest
If a company has a commercial relationship with Tech Embed — through advertising, sponsorship, or affiliate partnership — and that company also becomes the subject of a news article or review, we flag this clearly.
The article will be reviewed by an editor who has no connection to the commercial relationship, and a disclosure note will be added so readers know about the relationship.
If we cannot cover a company fairly because of a commercial relationship, we do not cover them at all.
How We Correct Mistakes
Tech Embed makes every effort to publish accurate information. When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently.
Our correction process works like this: when an error is reported, we verify it within 24 hours using an official source. If the error is confirmed, we correct the article, add a correction note at the bottom showing exactly what changed and why, and update the published date.
Correction notes are permanent. We do not quietly delete errors or remove correction notes after the fact.
If you spot an error in any Tech Embed article, please use our Report an Error form and we will investigate immediately.
